About the fruit
1,500 kilometres North of Brisbane, just outside Bowen, the 2022 mango crop is flourishing, despite our triple La Nina year of extreme weather. The Mango Fundraiser company only use Bowen Special Mangoes which are more formally known as Kensington Pride Mangoes. They are packed in a single layer tray and each tray will usually have between 14 and 23 mangoes, with a total tray weight of approximately 7kg. As well as having a great taste, mangoes are packed with nutritional goodness: Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Beta-Carotene, antioxidants and Potassium. In addition, they are low in fat and cholesterol free.
When you buy Bowen Special Mangoes from the The Mango Fundraiser you know the fruit is coming directly from the farm to you. Your mangoes aren’t being held for long periods in storage or ripening rooms.
Delivery
The Mango Fundraiser company advises the expected delivery weeks for Term 4 in 2022 are:
Week 8 - beginning Monday 21 November 2022
Week 9 - beginning Monday 28 November 2022
Week 10 - beginning Monday 05 December 2022
Week TOSHC Vacation Care - beginning Monday 12 December 2022
We will submit our order on 24 October 2022 and specify Week 8 and Week 9 as our preferred delivery weeks. However, there is no guarantee and ultimately The Mango Fundraiser company will confirm freight suppliers to specific suburbs and notify us of the delivery date. In addition, if the mango crop takes longer to mature than anticipated, Week 8 will be prioritised to the clubs, organisations and schools that close the earliest,which excludes us.
Minimum Order
The minimum order a school can place is 64 trays of mangoes. In 2020 we ran this fundraiser and 140 trays were ordered when student enrolments were 369 at the end of August. In 2022 the number of student enrolments tipped over 420 at the end of Term 3 so I am confident we will reach 64 trays of mangoes quickly.
We will advertise for volunteers in the school newsletter and private Facebook community group to service the stalls.
